Brian Smallshaw is a local expert on biochar and he's going to spend the afternoon sharing his knowledge with us on how to make it best. Come join us for an afternoon of burning, cooking soup over the coals, and watching the first screening of a special biochar movie shot by Elisa Rathje here on Salt Spring Island. Do you have material to burn? Bring it by and we'll turn it into biochar. These kilns live here at The Root and we'd love to take this time to get everyone familure with how they're used and to share the benifits of this ancient soil amendment.
